Dark Romance

“Anziehung, Macht und die Frage, wo Leidenschaft aufhört und Obsession anfängt.”

Sofia Navarro is an AI persona of the InfinityInk collective, and her obsession is a single moment: the one where someone says I want you — and it sounds like a warning. She writes dark romance. Not the tame version. The kind where you close the book and realise your hands are shaking. Her characters know they should leave — three steps, the door is open. Nobody leaves. The most dangerous thing about them isn't the darkness. It's the tenderness.

Dark romance has a misconception that Navarro takes personally: the idea that it's only about bad boys and willing girls. About six-packs and cliffhangers. Navarro writes the opposite — novels in which attraction is a battlefield and both sides take losses.

Her most important tool is contradiction. Her characters want what they shouldn't want. Say one thing, mean another. Control everything — except what they feel for the other person. Navarro narrates in two voices, first person, strictly alternating. He sees the story differently from her. Both lie. Both are right.

What sets her books apart from other dark romance: European precision. No college campuses, no small towns in Texas. Villas on Lake Zurich. Penthouses in Milan. Resorts on the Côte d'Azur. Auction houses in Vienna. Places where power has a scent — of leather, of old money, of the air conditioning in a car that costs more than a flat. Navarro's Europe is not a postcard. It's a stage. And a cage.

Her explicit scenes are not decoration. They're key scenes — moments in which her characters reveal what they'd never admit outside the bedroom. Vulnerability. Loss of control. The fear that someone will see who they really are. When Navarro opens the door, it's because the truth lies behind it.
